ZAFFICO CELEBRATES WORLD FORESTRY DAY

On March 21, 2025, Zambia Forestry and Forest Industries Corporation (ZAFFICO) PLC joined the global community in celebrating World Forestry Day, which was themed “Forests and Food.”

Members of Staff from ZAFFICO’s plantations across the Copperbelt Province, including Ndola Group, Ichimpe, and Lamba participated in a tree-planting exercise and an exhibition event held at Fitobaula Secondary School in Chililabombwe district.

The event was graced by Copperbelt Province Permanent Secretary Mr. Lawrence Mwanza, who highlighted the crucial role forests play in maintaining food security and sustainable livelihoods. He noted that this year’s theme is timely as it encourages responsible forestry practices.

“Forests are a pillar of global food security, providing fruits, seeds, wild meat, and other essential food sources for communities; therefore, they must be conserved,” he stated.

The event was met with enthusiasm from attendees, who expressed joy in participating in the commemoration and tree-planting activities. This collective action underscores the importance of protecting and preserving forests.

As part of its commitment to sustainable forest management, ZAFFICO PLC recognizes the intricate relationship between forests, food security, and sustainable livelihoods. By celebrating World Forestry Day, ZAFFICO PLC reaffirms its dedication to protecting and preserving forests for future generations.
